Another State Shows Evidence of Uninsureds

A recent report issued by Families USA shows that approximately one third of the population of Illinois went without health insurance at some point during the period of Jan 2007 to the end of 2008. Of these 3.5 million, roughly 2.5 million were without coverage for at least six months at a time. An overwhelming 80% of these people held jobs, and 20% were above the poverty level. The study also shows a negative trend for minorities with almost 50% of the uninsured being Hispanic and another 40% being black. What kind of conclusions can be drawn from this information? How can it be used to make improvements in the future?
