The higher premiums are directly related to higher claims history and are morbidity-based. When women reach the age of about 53 the tables turn and men's insurance rates are then higher. Mandating the same rate for both genders 1) defies the facts and 2) will probably mean that if women's rates go down then the rates for men will go up.

Not at all. An obvious device that would not have been pulled out of the bag of tricks if so many many people were not so adamently opposed to the reforms currently on the table (HB 3200), not to mention the CBO's estimate of cost for it.

I say let's test this approach out first. How about with fedral legislators and executive branch employees before we impose it on the entire population. Give it 3 years and let's see how it goes.

Yes. Doctors are always ordering unecessary tests and precribing useless medications. Maybe if they put a plan into place where doctors are rewarded for keeping their patients healthy rather than the opposite then we would be moving in the right direction.

I agree with Kirsten, there are so many current problems that need to be addressed before new programs are implemented. These new programs are going to be so raw that it is going to take years and billions of dollars to work out the bugs. Headache waiting to happen.
