Employer Based Health Insurance Continues to Decline
For the seventh straight year, rates of Americans insured by employer sponsored health coverage has dropped. This means that from the years 2000 to 2007, three million fewer people had insurance coverage through their employer. No age, race, or category of worker seems to have escaped this trend, as numbers have fallen across the board. Findings of the study also indicate that coverage for children has moved from employer-based insurance, to federally funded programs such as Medicaid. What do you think are the forces behind this general decline?
