Event Draws a Crowd
The Cobo Center in Detroit hosted an event brought on by Cover the Uninsured Week which involved providing health and wellness screenings for hundreds of participants. The health expo drew major crowds who lined up to have their blood pressure, cholesterhol, and bone density tested, among other things. The event was designed to bring awareness to the major problem of Michigan residents without health insurance. For many attendees who were without insurance, it was the only time they could gauge the status of their health in a somewhat comprehensive manner. Experts in attendance hoped that the large crowds would draw attention to the growing number of people without health insurance and unerscore the importance of health care reform. Do you think it achieved its goal?
