Obama Plan to Spell End to Private Insurance Market?

While Obama’s plan seems at first to offer citizens the choice of government sponsored insurance or prviate insurance, some feel that it will result in the phasing out of the private sector and ultimately full government control of the health care industry. This of course, will lead to higher taxes to pay for all of the currently uninsured Americans who cannot afford it on their own. Although private insurance will remain available initially, it will be heavily regulated in terms of cost and content as Obama stipulates what plans companies can offer. He will impose benefit mandates, which will drive up the cost of private coverage, leading more people to look to government provided plans. Do you think that Obama’s plans will lead to the end of the private health insurance market? Read more here

Just what us struggling Americans need is to pay higher taxes for those people that can’t afford it. Why is it my problem? I work hard to pay my bills.

I think the only thing that he may be able to accomplish is the mandate on children. Other that that, he may be successful in expanding the risk pool or requiring a high risk pool in every state. Governmental control of the healthcare system will never happen

Barack is going to win this election by a landslide. Any health insurance changes will take very long to make. It will be interesting to see what he does for the future.

  4. McCain Camp Says:

Okay, first of all, it is not a lock. Second of all, we need to have the private health insurance market. People need competition. It helps with prices and quality of care. Why anyone would want the same thing Obama wants is a mystery to me.

  5. Clinton 2008 Says:

Ok, so maybe Hilary Clinton isn’t on the ballot, but her ideas were much better for fixing the healthcare crisis in America. Mccain and Obama just don’t get it. Both of them cannot handle the job. I am voting for Ralph Nader.

  6. Obama Fan Says:

The republicans have made enough of a mess in this country. It is time for change and everyone is ready for it. Time will tell. Obama can bring everyone together. Joe the Plumber will be his biggest fan within a year’s time.

  7. Concerned about Insurance Says:

Frankly, I am concerned about insurance for America as a whole. Too many jobs are at stake in the health industry. I have been in this industry for 24 years and I see now more than ever that we are at a critical juncture. From nurses to Doctors to support staff in hospitals and offices across the United States. The economy hinges on healthcare now as an underlining security. It rivals Wall Street and the things that are going on there. We need to really take a look at everything no matter who goes in office. Too much is at stake at this critical point in time.
