Stimulus Plan Yet to Pay Out
For people who have suffered a job loss in recent months, the previously cost prohibitive COBRA coverage was thought to be placed within reach due to Obama’s stimulus plan which would subsidize the cost of premium and make it affordable for more people. So far, however, many COBRA subscribers have still been paying the full cost of the health insurance coverage and being promised reimbursement which could come months later. While some are able to swing paying for the full price, which can often equal an entire month’s unemployment benefits, many others will not be able to afford to wait for reimbursement. How many people will the stimulus actually help if the money is not being made available sooner rather than later and the whole process is getting bogged down in administration difficulties?
