Utah Lawmakers Roll Out Reform

An extensive reform plan was rolled out in Utah recently outlinging a plan to offer cheaper coverages by removing a lot of restrictions and mandates. The plan is part of a 10 year reform movement, and this is an attempt at laying the groundwork. Two requirements of the plan however, are that insurance companies make the plans available online, allowing consumers to compare coverages and premium costs, and also that they be provided through an employer who must make a contribution to the plans. Government assistance would make it possible for small businesses to contribute a smaller amount and still be able to offer coverage to their employees when they would otherwise not be able to afford it. Do you think this type of plan will be successful in getting more Americans covered? Or as the unemployment rate rises, will it not affect a large enough group of people?
