Women pay more for health insurance

According to the Christian Science Monitor reports, Women have an exceptionally high stake in the health insurance reform debate because they intermingle with the health care system more often than men, and so are more susceptible to a system with escalated costs and with restrictions that hinder women especially. Although more men than women are uninsured, however women face bigger hurdles in the current health care system that reform legislation would address. One example, the House health reform bill would not allow gender rating a practice by which insurance companies charge women more than men for the same policies. Under the current system, a 30 year old woman usually pays 7-50% more than a man the exact same age with the exact same coverage. What are you thoughts on gender rating and how it affects women’s health insurance costs?
